You Can Extend C Drive in Following Cases
Most users never think that they need to extend C drive before they get low disk space warning on the partition. In fact, even if you don’t receive low disk space alert, you can also resize C drive on Windows Server 2003 in some situations. Taking some cases for example,

Case 1: The C drive on Windows 2003 has been showing red bar for several months. I found there is a little free disk space on C drive, but I didn’t care much about it. Recently, I found that my computer runs more and more slowly. I have tried to cleanup disk and remove cookies, but the computer still runs quite slowly. How can I speed up my computer?

Well, a lot of factors can affect the speed of computer, while C drive lacking of disk space is a possible reason. Although Windows still doesn’t pop up low disk space alert on C drive, you can still extend the C drive when there is a little free disk space. If C drive has enough free disk space, it may help your Server keeps a good performance and run fast.

Case 2: Windows pops up low disk space alert on C drive on my SBS 2003 Server. I have tried run Diskpart command to get C drive extended, but I receive another message like "The volume you have selected may not be extended. Please select another volume and try again". Is there any method that I can extend system partition on Windows SBS 2003?

For this case, the reason why you cannot resize C partition with Diskpart command is that the Diskpart command only allows users to resize data partition. Besides, Diskpart command only supports to resize NTFS partition. If the system partition is FAT32 file system, Diskpart command might fail to extend C drive.
